The sun shone today at LSM’s Radio, Sound & Music Symposium II. Radio experts, creatives and music specialists, including a panel of our graduates working in the industry gave valuable insider knowledge to students. Having worked in local radio, both ILR and BBC, albeit a while back (before I joined ITV factual) the advice still rang true: Come up with ideas and say how you’d produce it. Contact people you like to listen to or you fancy a job they’re doing. Look at the range of jobs (not just presentation and news) and target indies, as well as the main industry players. Don’t turn down freelance work because there’ll be someone else to do it. Happy days!
Graduates will be posting their stories here soon. Like Liam Juniper, class of 2011, who is a Studio Manager and works on output for BBC World Service Sport, Radio 5 live and 5 live Sports Extra. In the meantime, you can see tweets at #LSMradio2013 and join in, too!
LSM’s final year undergraduate Sean Strange will be posting images he captured today – so watch this space!
