Dirty Diamond, Class of 2011, RTS nominees

We have just received good news from Andy McKay. The Chair of the Midlands Royal Television Society judges has told him that Dirty Diamond Media has been nominated for Best Fiction Film in the student category.

“This is a fantastic achievement for a charming film which I know took much effort and creativity to produce.

Though we entered most categories with 3 films from last year’s 3rd year students, yours is our only successful nomination this year from an extremely large regional entry. So this is a major achievement.

At this stage, this is a “nomination”, which means that “Colours & Shapes” is in the short list for an award. These final awards will be decided at the annual awards dinner which is scheduled for some time in the spring.¬†Absolutely well done!”

The Dirty Diamond Media production team was:

Josh Pearce Director of drama:
Paul Hope: Executive Producer, Editor, Sound Editor
Chris Lawlor: Director of Photography
Jamie Brown: Assistant director, Sound Assistant
David Robinson: Lighting cameraman

On behalf of the team, Paul Hope is delighted with the nomination: “…. it is something we were aiming to achieve from the start of our third year of study, when we compiled as a group. After seeing success stories at the RTS awards, from LSM students, we wanted to work hard to achieve our goal of getting a nomination in the Best Fiction category. And luckily enough that hard work has paid off for us, and we are thoroughly looking forward to the ceremony and hopefully an award at the end of the night.

Sarah Barrow, Head of School: “This is really wonderful news. Well done to you and your team Paul.”

David Sleight, Dean of Faculty: ” Congratulations – so pleased to hear that you have been nominated – all finger’s crossed for the award ceremony!”
