New opportunity…with Ken Loach!

Ken Loach

Kate Ogborn at Fly Films is looking for a recent graduate to help with research for an archive-based documentary being developed by acclaimed film-maker Ken Loach which Kate is producing.

The brief from Kate is as follows…

“We are looking for someone, based in the East Midlands, to work alongside our archive researcher Jim Anderson. Jim is currently sourcing the first batch of archive for Ken Loach to view later this month (August). There will then be a second search for archive to find material for Ken and his editor to view in September and to start really shaping the direction and content of the documentary. There will then be a hiatus whilst Ken is in production with his next film and we will return to the documentary in Autumn 2011.

So we are looking for an assistant who is interested in archive research and also documentary research to work alongside Jim. The work will be logging the archive, digitising the material, where necessary, and generally assisting Jim and myself with any research that needs doing. I think it would suit a recent graduate who has an interest in archive or in documentary and is willing to do administrative work alongside possible research. We would be keen to find someone to start straight away, it is possible that the job will be part time or in blocks or time rather than for a fixed period, so they would need to be willing to work in a freelance ad-hoc way.

There will be a fee for the work and ideally we would like someone to start as soon as possible as Jim is preparing material for Ken and his editor to view at the end of September. We are looking for someone who is based in the East Midlands region and had envisaged that it is work that they could do mainly from home.”
