LSM film makers in Polar Film Festival

Watch out alumni! A group of level 3 LSM students have won a place at the Polar Film Festival this week, in Finland, with their low budget historical drama feature “Northmen”.

The atmospheric costume drama, produced and shot entirely here in Lincoln, is not for the sqeamish. It’s the grim story of five Viking warriors stranded in England in 1002 after their army has fled back to Denmark, following the massacre of all Danish settlers on the orders of Saxon king Ethelred the Unready…….

Latest news: Northmen has been selected for screening at the Cam*Era International Student Film Festival in Cambridge 18-20 June!

The film was screened and judged in Turku last Sunday, and we have just heard that the film has been selected by the British Society of Cinematographers to be shown at their new cinematographers evening at Pinewood Studios in front of an industry audience, including agents from the BBC and Channel 4. Director Philip Stevens said “It is a really great achievement as we are one of only 7 films chosen by members of the BSC out of 60 from all over the world!”

Before the team left for Turku, some of them dropped by for a chat about the project. It turned out to be quite a long chat……
