Congratulations!

Student filmmakers from the Lincoln School of Media swept the board at the Royal Television Society regional awards last night, coming home with an incredible four awards.

The School won the top prize in the Animation, Entertainment and Factual categories, plus the Best Overall Student Production award.

The success meant Lincoln students, all recent graduates of the BA (Hons) Media Production programme, took the top award in every category in which they were nominated.

The Royal Television Society Midlands regional awards ceremony was held on Thursday 29 October at Birmingham Town Hall, hosted by television news presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

In total four separate groups of Lincoln students were shortlisted for awards in the student section. Media Production lecturer Marcella Forster was also nominated for the Best New Talent award.

“Eden” by Charlie Sherrington and Frazer Milton won the Animation award, “Best Friends That Love Each Other” by Alex Holland, Michael Henry, Stuart Almond and Daryll Gregory won the Entertainment award and “Flashmob” by Adam Stubbings, Rick Horsefall and Tom Mallion won the Factual award and Best Overall Student Production.

Lincoln students have enjoyed success at the RTS Midlands regional awards in previous years, winning awards in 2005, 2007 and 2008, but this year’s achievement is unprecedented.

The winning students now progress into the national Royal Television Society awards.

Mike Mason, Acting Head of the University’s Lincoln School of Media and Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Media Production, said: “This is fabulous news for the School and we are immensely proud of the honour the RTS has bestowed on us. It shows once again that our students are second to none in their creativity, imagination and flair and also their immense capacity for hard work and professionalism in everything they set their minds to. I cannot underscore enough how this truly exceptional achievement evidences the excellence of teaching, resources and support our students enjoy both within the School of Media and across the board during their time with us at Lincoln.”
